Founded in the early nineties, the Têtes de Bois are one of the best examples of the new Italian folk movement. The Roman group’s history is a tale of friends and fellow travellers, roads and crossings, unusual places, outlying areas, concerts on escalators in underground train stations, a 1956 FIAT truck, abandoned factories, extemporaneous performances on trams and at railway stations, but also performances in clubs, social centres, and prestigious theatres. For the Têtes de Bois, music passes through contact with the everyday world – words and sounds are captured, absorbed, metabolized. In 2002 and 2007 they were awarded the Tenco prize for best performance.
