DOLOMITI D’INCANTO
11 Trentino choirs pay tribute to the Dolomites, a UNESCO natural world heritage

11 am Trentino Refuges

Terme di Comano, Dolomiti di Brenta, Rifugio Al Cacciatore
CIMA TOSA CHOIR
Formed in 2002 in the Outer Valli Giudicarie from the merger of two vocal ensembles, the Cima Tosa Choir takes its name from the highest peak in the Brenta Dolomites. They perform traditional Trentino folk songs, testimony of the history, culture and values of the mountain people.

Val di Non, Brenta Dolomites, Rifugio Peller
CORONA CROZ CHOIR
Originally from the Val di Non, where they formed in 1970, the choir performs original versions of the songs of the mountains, adding an innovative note to their musical research. Musicians, composers and lyricists all contribute to their vast and very particular repertoire.

Val Rendena, Brenta Dolomites, Rifugio Giorgio Graffer
SAT CHOIR
Among their merits are that of having brought the Trentino alpine choral tradition to the attention and appreciation of an international audience. The choir’s performances of works arranged by great musicians have made them popular even outside the folk music scene.

Val di Fassa, Dolomiti, RIfugio Maria al Sass Pordoi
ENROSADIRA CHOIR
Founded in 1981 in Moena, they are dedicated in particular to the study and performance of traditional Ladin songs. Special mention should therefore be made of the Enrosadira Choir’s participation in the recording of Louis Canori’s opera Laurin, under the direction of the Ladin Cultural Institute.

Val di Fiemme Rifugio Lusia

CORO NEGRITELLA

The Negritella choir hails from Predazzo, has over 50 years of history behind it, and so, of course, acts as ambassador for the traditions of the Val di Fiemme. Although very involved in solidarity initiatives, its activities have always been built around the friendships that exist between its young and not so young members.

Altopiano della Paganella, Rifugio La Roda
SAN ROMEDIO ANAUNIA CHOIR
Since their formation in 1965 they have been dedicated to collecting and reviving Trentino folklore. Members come from the villages located around the Sanctuary of St. Romedio, from which the choir has taken its name.

Rovereto, Monte Altissimo, Rifugio Damiano Chiesa
S. ILARIO CHOIR
This choir from Rovereto has shared the stage with major classical orchestras, such as Parma’s Toscanini Orchestra and Bologna’s Accademia Filarmonica. They have also worked with Antonella Ruggiero on a project which culminated in their appearance at the Sanremo Festival.

San Martino di Castrozza, Pale di San Martino, Rifugio Rosetta-Giovanni Pedrotti
SASS MAOR CHOIR
Their activities go back to 1974, since when they have specialised in collecting and conserving the traditions of the Valle di Primiero, from where its members originate. The Sass Maor Choir took part in a performance of Giorgio Battistelli’s original composition Vijiades (Visions) for "Sounds of the Dolomites".

Val di Sole, Cevedale, Rifugio Larcher
SASSO ROSSO CHOIR
Starting out in the Val di Sole in 1967, they draw on a heritage of the most authentic folk songs in Trentino and indeed the entire Alpine region. Firmly rooted in the historical folk song tradition they are noted for their work with musicians who share their sentiments and their close ties with the territory.

Val di Fassa, the Dolomites, Rifugio Roda di Vael
TRENTINO SOSAT CHOIR
One of the most successful Trentino choral groups internationally. During their long history they have consistently succeeded in keeping live and bringing to a wider audience the alpine folk songs of Trentino and other regions of Italy, while also drawing on international folklore.

Valsugana, Lagorai, Rifugio Caldenave
VALSELLA CHOIR
With one of the richest histories of all Trentino’s choirs, the Valsella Choir is the repository of Valsugana’s oral tradition, which the local people still recall. Their repertoire includes traditional songs as well as songs from various European and non-European countries.
