Belles of the Rockies is an ensemble from Colorado, a western U.S. state renowned for the Rocky Mountains and its extraordinary natural landscapes. Formed in an academic setting at the University of Colorado Boulder College of Music, the group has already won the Award-Winning Small Trumpet Ensemble, the most prestigious brass ensemble competition in the United States.
The combination of the members’ diverse musical backgrounds—from orchestral music to jazz, from drum corps to musical theatre and chamber music—creates a unique and engaging blend. Belles of the Rockies bring energy and creativity to every performance.
Their main source of inspiration comes from pioneering women in the brass world, who had to challenge the gender stereotype that traditionally associated these instruments with military bands and therefore with a male-dominated environment. Another fundamental source of inspiration, of course, is their mountains.
