Janine Jansen

Janine Jansen, born in Soest on January 7, 1978, is a Dutch violinist of international fame. She began studying the violin at a very young age and later perfected her skills under Coosje Wijzenbeek, Philipp Hirshhorn, and Boris Belkin.

Throughout her career, she has collaborated with some of the world’s leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic and the London Symphony Orchestra, and with conductors such as Sir Antonio Pappano and Valery Gergiev, while also making a significant contribution to chamber music.

She is the founder and artistic director of the Utrecht International Chamber Music Festival and co-artistic director of the Sion Festival. Since November 2023, she has been a professor of violin studies at the Kronberg Academy. Over the course of her career, she has received numerous awards, including the Dutch Music Prize and the Bremen MusikFest Award.

She currently plays the 1715 Stradivarius “Shumsky-Rode,” generously loaned to her by a European benefactor.
