Voces8 Scholars

Voces8 is an artistic and educational project founded in England in 2003 by brothers Paul and Barnaby Smith, both former choristers at Westminster Abbey. It evolved into an a cappella octet that has become a benchmark in the world of choral music, recording for Decca Classics as well as their own label, Voces8 Records.

The eight singers have developed within the framework of the Voces8 Foundation’s annual program, which is dedicated to training new generations of musical talent, promoting artistic excellence, and creating innovative educational initiatives.

The Voces8 Scholars offer, both in their recordings and live performances, a boundless sonic journey that spans centuries and musical languages, blending European choral tradition—from the Renaissance polyphony of Palestrina, Tallis, and Gabrieli to the more recent works of Whitacre, Gjeilo, and Panufnik—with contemporary musical sensibilities, including folk songs, jazz, and pop.
