Kept for 62 years by the famous mountaineer Bruno Detassis, the ‘King of the Brenta’ and then by his son Claudio, since 2009 the Rufugio Brentei has been run by mountain guide Luca Leonardi with his wife Antonella and sons Michele and Gabriele.
Built in the 1930s, the hut soon became a point of reference for the most daring mountaineers, even more so when the caretaker became Bruno Detassis. Having become part of the hearts of mountaineers from all over the world, the Brentei is still today frequented by all those who want to climb the walls of the Brenta Dolomites, thanks to its strategic position and the hospitality of its managers.
Over the past two years, work has been underway to completely renovate the Brentei hut, which will be equipped with new services: there will be new showers, a drying room, heated rooms, cosy dormitories and other new features. The highlight will be the new panoramic dining and bar room. A large, continuous glass wall will accompany the 270-degree view of the Brenta Dolomites.
