Ivano Fossati, born in Genoa in 1951, is an artist of many facets: singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, lyricist, composer, teacher, and writer. His life is a weaving of music and words, an eclectic journey spanning countless genres.
He initially focused on the piano, but his encounter with the Beatles led him to the guitar. His professional debut came in 1971 with Delirium, a progressive rock band with which he participated in the 1972 Sanremo Festival performing Jesahel. In 1973, he began his solo career with the album Il grande mare che avremmo traversato, which foreshadowed his versatile style, but his true breakthrough with the public came in 1979 with La mia banda suona il rock.
In the following years, Fossati explored diverse sounds, collaborating with numerous artists. His songwriting created hits for performers such as Anna Oxa, Loredana Bertè, Mina, and Marcella Bella. His collaboration with Fabrizio De André marked a crucial moment, culminating in the album Anime salve in 1996. Beyond music, Fossati devoted himself to writing literary texts, film scores, and music for theater.
A multifaceted life, a continuous journey between music and literature, leaving an indelible mark on Italian culture.
