Les Mécanos is a formation composed of ten French singers linked by a solid friendship, who have been exploring the French and Occitan singing heritage since 2018, cultivating a common desire: to recover the regional repertoires that are an integral part of each singer’s musical universe.
Thanks to the addition of percussion, the vocal polyphony of traditional songs opens up with them to contemporary music. The lyrics and melodies that form the basis of Les Mécanos’ repertoire are combined with the use of instruments such as bass drums and floor toms, but also with objects and tools of the trade that do not usually appear in theatres and music arenas but rather in machine shops, such as spanners, exhaust pipes or wheel rims.
On stage, the musicians therefore open the doors of their workshop wide, offering songs of work and struggle, laments of love, political and religious satires, motifs made for dancing and partying, creating an intense and enthralling experience.
Their first album Usures was released in 2024.
