Quartetto di Cremona

Founded in 2000 within the prestigious Stauffer Academy, the Quartetto di Cremona is an Italian ensemble whose discography ranges from Bartók and Haydn to Brahms, Mozart, and Beethoven. After further studies with renowned musicians including Piero Farulli and Hatto Beyerle, the quartet became artist-in-residence in 2011 at both the Società del Quartetto di Milano and the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome.

Currently, they lead the string quartet course at the Stauffer Academy, and in 2015 were awarded honorary citizenship by the city of Cremona.

Over the years, the quartet has performed at prestigious festivals and venues around the world, including the Beethovenfest in Bonn, the Metropolitan Museum and Lincoln Center in New York, BOZAR in Brussels, Konzerthaus in Berlin, Wigmore Hall in London, and the Perth Festival in Australia.

International critics unanimously regard the ensemble—Cristiano Gualco (violin), Paolo Andreoli (violin), Simone Gramaglia (viola), and Giovanni Scaglione (cello)—as a standout force in the classical music scene, and an important advocate for contemporary Italian composers, including Fabio Vacchi, Silvia Colasanti, and Michele Dall’Ongaro.
