Van Kuijk Quartet

Founded in 2012 in Paris, the Van Kuijk Quartet was “in residence” at the Proquartet Association in Paris, where they had the opportunity to study under legendary quartets such as the Berg, Hagen, and Artemis Quartets. In 2015, they won First Prize at the Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition in London, also receiving two special awards for the best performances of works by Beethoven and Haydn.

Now a regular presence on the international stage, the quartet has performed at the Berlin Philharmonie, Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie, the Musikverein in Vienna, as well as the Philharmonie, Auditorium du Louvre, and Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris. They have also toured in China, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, the United States, and Canada.

The Van Kuijk Quartet records exclusively for Alpha Classics (Outhere). Their debut album, released in 2016 and dedicated to Mozart (Divertimento K136, Quartets K428 and K465 “Dissonance”), received major accolades, including the Choc de Classica award. In the following years, they released additional recordings focused on French composers (Debussy, Ravel, Chausson) and Schubert’s String Quartets Nos. 10 and 14. At I Suoni delle Dolomiti, the ensemble performed, among other works, Grieg’s String Quartet No. 1, Op. 27 and Mendelssohn’s String Quartet No. 6, Op. 80.

The quartet is supported by Pirastro, Spedidam, and Mécénat Musical Société Générale.
