A natural amphitheater from which you can admire much of the western sector of the Pale di San Martino. From here you can see the unmistakable profiles of the Sass Maor and Cima della Madonna, the Val di Roda with its bell towers, the Pala di San Martino, the nearby Cima Rosetta and then to the north of the Cimon della Pala. Throughout the year the area is often frequented by tourists as well as by villagers, given the many simple walks that lead from here to the Civertaghe area or to the nearby meadows of Colverde.
In summer there are many hikers who travel on these green meadows towards the Pale di San Martino Plateau (path 702) or the Rifugio Velo della Madonna (path 724). A true green paradise immersed in the nature of the Paneveggio Pale di San Martino Park, which can be reached in just 15 minutes from the centre of San Martino di Castrozza.
Fun Facts
Mountain pastures with alpine huts provide a suitable habitat for the Black Redstart, a small insectivorous bird that feeds mainly on invertebrates found among the grass.
For nesting, this species makes use of rocky outcrops in the area, as well as crevices and cavities in rural buildings such as alpine huts.
