Malga Spora, an alpine farmstead nestled in one of the most hidden and suggestive corners of the Brenta Dolomites, in a spot far from the main tourist routes, although close to two exceptional centres of attraction on the Paganella plateau, Andalo and Molveno, welcomes an extraordinary quartet for the 30th anniversary of I suoni delle Dolomiti.
Avi Avital, a mandolin virtuoso born in Be’er Sheva in southern Israel, a performer for whom more than a hundred compositions have been written and the first mandolin soloist to be nominated for a classical Grammy. Giovanni Sollima, an Italian composer and cellist who has performed on stages all over the world and collaborated with great conductors such as Claudio Abbado and Riccardo Muti, as well as the renowned musicians Stefano Bollani and Paolo Fresu. The singer Alessia Tondo, who has gradually moved from the traditional music of her native Puglia, in particular the pizzica, to the realms of chamber music and contemporary music. Peppe Copia, a musician with a particular interest in Baroque and Renaissance music, whose favourite instruments are the chitarra battente and the theorbo.
Those who are accustomed to walking along paths of all kinds are usually open to the surprise, the unexpected, the astonishment caused by an encounter with a landscape, an animal or a sound. For this reason, we are sure that the musical journey proposed at Malga Spora, through different musical territories, from Scarlatti’s Baroque to traditional Sephardic, Turkish, Macedonian and Salento music, will be very rewarding.
