The traditional “musical trekking” of I Suoni delle Dolomiti will this year take place in the Pale di San Martino, a massif that has been part of the Dolomites World Heritage Site since 2009.
In this stunning setting—between San Martino di Castrozza, Passo Rolle, and the Primiero-Vanoi area—two exceptional musicians will perform: Mario Brunello, the festival’s long-time artistic director, accompanied by his 17th-century cello, and French violinist Gilles Apap, a virtuoso equally at ease with classical repertoire, jazz, and folk music.

Mario Brunello and Gilles Apap will walk alongside the participants, bringing the great music of the violin and cello repertoire into the unique landscapes at the foot of the Pale di San Martino. On this special occasion, the two musicians will play the “instruments of the sea”: a cello and a violin crafted by inmates at Opera Prison from the wood of migrant boats that reached the shores of Lampedusa. These instruments embody a powerful story of rebirth, redemption and hope.
