Belles of the Rockies

2000X1460BELLES-OF-THE-ROCKIES

Dawn in the Dolomites

From Colorado, an all-female ensemble following the great tradition of brass orchestras

Known to all as “the terrace of the Dolomites,” Sass Pordoi can rightfully be considered one of the most panoramic spots not only in Trentino but across the entire Alpine range. Accessible via the cable car from Passo Pordoi, with a “jump” of 700 meters in elevation, it offers a full 360° view of the Marmolada, Sassolungo, Catinaccio, and Sella mountain groups, with a close-up view of its highest peak, Piz Boè.

We believe that such a setting—especially when immersed in the magical atmosphere of sunrise—will make the Belles of the Rockies hardly miss their Colorado, the beautiful Western U.S. state where the group was formed in a university setting.

The young ensemble has already won the Award-Winning Small Trumpet Ensemble, the most prestigious brass ensemble competition in the United States. With diverse backgrounds—from orchestra to jazz, drum corps to musical theater and chamber music—the Belles bring energy and creativity to every performance, as evidenced by the hundreds of thousands of views they have amassed on YouTube.

Their inspiration comes from the women who were pioneers in the brass world, breaking into a field traditionally considered male, and, naturally, from their mountains.
