The dreamy pastures of the Malga Tassulla alpine farmstead, the extreme offshoot of the Brenta Dolomites, in the heart of the Val Nana, formed by ice and karst. This is the magnificent setting in which the Theophil Ensemble Wien, founded in 2008 by Matthias Schorn, first clarinet of the Vienna Philharmonic, one of the most prestigious classical orchestras in the world, will be performing.
So from Vienna to Val di Non, or from what was once the beating heart of the Habsburg Empire to Trentino, which was part of that Empire and continues to be a link between the Italian and German worlds. This link is formed by the music of an orchestra that, in addition to the classical and romantic repertoire, includes many lesser-known pieces for various instruments, including the extraordinary music of the Strauss family, the embodiment of Vienna and the Danube.
A regular guest at major festivals and in Europe’s most prestigious concert halls, the Theophil Ensemble Wien has collaborated with musicians of the calibre of Erwin Steinhauer, Karl Markovics, Sandra Pires and Frank Hoffman, as well as taking part in numerous productions for the Austrian radio Station Ö1.
For each performance, the orchestra is inspired by the wise words of Gustav Mahler: “The most important part of music is not written in the notes”. The character of the Pian de la Nana can undoubtedly bring valuable suggestions to the score.
